Natsumi Hoshi triumphs Women’s 200m butterfly heats: Day three - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Natsumi Hoshi won the preliminary rounds of Women’s 200m butterfly on third day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, April 4.
Hoshi smothered hopes of her opponents in the distant butterfly event as she qualified into the semi-final as fastest swimmer. With her impressive stroke and unrelenting efforts, she faced no difficulty in earning the finest qualification spot of the 200m discipline.
She remained comfortably ahead of her following swimmer, Masami Uchikoshi and tapped the finishing wall in first place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 08.99 seconds.
Her gruelling effort remained nearly two seconds ahead of Uchikoshi, who occupied second best place in the semi-finals by ending her swim with the timing of 2 minutes and 10.78 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was secured by Yurie Yano, who stayed nearly 0.60 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.33 seconds.
Yano was trailed by Kei Hoshiba, who stayed nearly one second slower from her and emerged on the finishing end by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 12.25 seconds.
The fifth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Yuka Katou, who suffered a loss of 0.09 seconds from her former finisher as she reported 2 minutes and 12.34 seconds.
In the meantime, Izumi Katou snared top qualification spot in the prelims of Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM). Katou remained nearly one body length ahead of her strongest swimmer and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.38 seconds.
She was trailed by Emu Higuchi, who stayed almost one second slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 14.61 seconds for second position.
Miho Teramura earned third best position of the discipline as she posted a time of 2 minutes and 14.97 seconds while Miho Takahashi proved her mettle for the fourth best position of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.08 seconds.
In addition, the championship will end on April 8 after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s category.
