  1. This may be caused by the hair care products you are using. Natural products that are made from shea butter, herbs, and essential oils should not make you break out, as organic oils are healthy for the skin and the hair. Mineral oil along with petrolatum can cause acne, as they clog the pores.

Keep in mind that all oils are not bad for your skin. Grapseed oil is good for acne prone skin, however, Jojoba oil is usually better suited for those with dry skin. Essential oils such as lavender and tea tree are VERY good for the skin an actually combat skin irritations and blemishes more effectively than commercial products like Proactiv.

Begin using natural hair products and skin products and refrain from sleeping on the same pillow for more than a week. Wash your hair scarf out weekly, and keep your hair braided up at night to prevent it from touching your face. Do not touch your face after you touch your hair, and make sure that you wash your face two times daily. Use facial scrubs weekly and use a facial mask when your pores are clogged.

I used to have really bad acne problems but I tried out Tea Tree & Chamomile Soap and  Cedarwood & Neem Soap, along with a cleara facial mask and my skin became clearer in just a week.

You should be able to find 100% natural hair care products for Black women with natural hair at this site..all of their haircare line products as well as skin care products have worked well for me and my customers (works at hair salon).

  2. I havent had this particular problem but I am Black and I have very oily skin ( and hair Lol). I had the usual tzone redness and back acne. I started using Clinique face cleansers for mild to very oily skin 3-4 years ago and I love it. I use it whenever I take a shower and afterwards put alot of lotion (preferably with aloe) on my face/ body. Cleared my skin up within a month and it didnt dry me out either... highly recommended =)

  3. I completely understand where you're coming from. Our natural hair is extremely dry and requires a fairly large amount of oil to help it retain moisture and maintain overall health. Unfortunately, this is not so good news for our skin. Oil is your face's worst enemy when it comes to acne! What you can do is try your very best to keep your hair away from your face. For instance, when you exercise, wear your hair wrapped up or use a headband to keep hair out of your face. When you go to sleep, where a head scarf for protection (also make sure you wash your pillow frequently b/c it may be oily too). Finally, you can rock natural hairstyles that also help you keep your hair away from your face. This will do wonders in keeping your acne problem in check. For more info on natural hair, visit:
