My step mother had went to a natural food supply store & they had recommended a combination of two pills that when taken together caused a natural colonic cleanse....I have since lost the name of these two pills. Would anyone know the name of the pills or a combo that would work the same...Thanks for any help!

  1. You have a natural colonic cleanse every time you take a dump.  Don't take those medicines!  They are not good for your body or your intestines.  Our bodies were made this way and our colon cleanses itself naturally.  Don't believe that stuff that you hear about our colons. It's all bulls^%&*!

  2. Most natural food stores will have a variety of colon cleansing products. Most will contain either pill or powder form of psylliun husks which are not harmful to the body. They are merely a source of fiber. The unique quality of psyllium hulls or husks is that rather than just providing bulk like most fiber sources they retain a little of their stiffness so they act like a broom while moving through the colon and brush of layers of built up toxins on the inner walls. This helps to purify the body and makes digestion and absorption of nutrients more efficient.

There is usually another supplement that is an herbal combination. Depending on the product that either contains herbs that help to nourish and tonify the colon supporting parastalsis. Or it may be a blend that supports the function of the kidneys and liver to aid detoxification , or it may be a blend of probiotics to restore the healthy flora to the intestines, or enzymes and herbs to support digestion.

Either way, contrary to the answer of the other poster, this is a healthy thing to do on occasion. In between times your step mother, and the rest of us should practice eating more fresh raw veggies and some fresh fruit, whole grains, lots of water and some green or herbal teas. Very little sugar, animal products and refined flour. This will help keep the colon and the entire body healthier and cleaner.

  3. You do not need a "colon cleanse" unless you are having a procedure like a colonoscopy.  Otherwise, your colon is self-cleaning and can manage just fine without these "cleanse" products, which are nothing more than strong laxatives anyway.  These products do not "tonify" the colon, that is just more BS that they will tell you in order to get your money.

  4. Colon-cleansing programs disrupt the balance of fluids and electrolytes, causing dehydration and salt depletion. Long-term or excessive cleansing programs can lead to problems such as anemia, malnutrition and heart failure.

Your colon is meant to have a natural balance, like every other part of your body. If you feel it isn't functioning as it should, increase the amount of raw fibrous vegetables you consume, and drink plenty of filtered water.

  5. Colon cleanses are not for someone who has a healthy bowel, that being said, most of the population doesn't. Most people are constipated, but will disagree as they have no idea what the word actually means, nor do they understand what the natural elimination process of the bowel actually is.

For someone that simply doesn't have regular bowel movements OR has some condition such as diverticulitis, which is CAUSED by chronic constipation (as are almost all of the colon issues we hear of today), a simple remedy of something high fibre or containing NATURAL laxative capabilities (cascara, senna, although these are not recommended for long term use, as with ANY laxative, natural or not.) will take care of the cleansing problem. Flax seed (must be ground) is very strengthening to the digestive tract and gives ample fibre to keep things "moving". Flax MUST be taken with adequate fluid as it is a bulk forming laxative and can exacerbate the situation or your fluid intake is too little. Flax is also very mucilaginous, therefore coating an inflamed or irritated colon, which is helpful as well. Along with all these things, healthy diet is of the utmost importance. Sugar, white flour and caffeine are big culprits in the non-functioning bowel area. Eat well and get your fibre, exercise and fluids.
