Question:

Natural Gas in Nicaragua?

I have a Viking professional range, and I want to take it with me to Nicaragua. The question is; I have not been able to find on the internet if natural gas is available in Nicaragua. I know that propane is readily available. The range is very heavy and equally expensive ($10,000+) and I know it will be hard to replace in another country, I just do not want to take it with me if I am not able to use it there.

  1. Natural Gas is not readily available here in Nicaragua (I am an American Citizen that has worked in Nicaragua for 10 years). Propane is the only currently used gas. However, there are adapters that can be used to convert Natural Gas to Propane. Propane Burns hotter than natural gas, meaning you need a reducer on the gas input to the range. I have these on our Gas Clothes Dryer. They are available at your Mobile Home supply store or often times through the manufacturer.

  2. Just buy a car there. It is far too expensive to ship it.

  3. Its too big to fit into your carry on. :) Seriously, why not call or emal the nicaraguan embassy and ask?
