Question:

Natural Global Warming & Ice Ages?

Yes humans are magnifying the effects of the natural global warming cycle. Ok so the earth will suffer... etc...etc...

If we were living during the part of the cycle that had glacier a mile high of ice over top of cities like New York would we still be upset about warming up a world during a major ice age??

In the next 20,000 years or so if the cycle of ice ages holds we will see another Ice age that will bury allot of cities in allot of ice.

Is the next global shift not our problem because it is so far away?

Will we still be in favor of restoring the natural balance when it is not in our interest as a species to do so?

  1. Subject: IT IS NOT GLOBAL WARMING, BUT IT IS A SHIFT IN CLIMATE ZONES DUE TO THE DECREASE IN THE EARTH'S OBLIQUITY

  2. Global warming is a cycle that happened only 1000 years ago in Greenland and Iceland.

From the 10th century, the warmer climate brought the Vikings in increasing numbers to Greenland and Iceland, the cooler climate in the 13th century was equal to the task of decreasing those numbers. By the time Columbus set sail in 1492, Greenland was "dead" and Iceland was struggling to survive its failing crops, starvation, and a collapsing fishing industry.

Perhaps recent glacier melt will bring prosperity once again.

  3. God created this Earth and He will also take care of it.  Stop worrying so much!!!!

  4. humans in control are mostly immoral b******s that will do anything for more money, so what we need to do next ice age is commit mass assassination, and get anarchy until i become supreme ruler =P

  5. In 1975 scientists predicted an oncoming ice age, one scientist (bert bolin of Sweden) suggested that we could release more co2 to counter it as there was a chance it might cause warming - scientists at the time critised him and said that the theory man made co2 could warm the earth was a silly phantasy. That just demonstrates your point though and that was only 33 years ago!

Maybe we have already saved ourselves from another iceage, but I doubt it! Fact is climate change is a natural phenomenon and we have little to no effect on it.

  6. There is a study about that cycle... They say that in our time, ice age can be formed in just 10yrs... It's because the hotness of earth is increasing and then the volcanoes will be activated... Like the last theory that states that ice age was formed by the volcanic gas that cover the earth to block the heat from the sun... Just like now...

  7. Ian first show me some global warming not caused by solar activity. From the 1850s through 1940 we had a noticeable warming fueled by a spike in sunspots. The warmest year here was 1934, which was cooler than the average during the MWP. Then through the 40s and 50s it cooled a little bit as Co2 levels rose dramatically. It warmed slightly in the early 60s and then cooled again in the 70s bringing on the great Hansen’s first appearance on the world stage promoting Co2 as a global cooling gas that was going to drive the world into the next ice age and starve or kill most of the worlds population.

Then just as this was getting off the ground the sun spot activity jumped again and things started warming up again. So on the advice of Al Gore Mann and Hansen rewrote their whole scenario to match his alarmist book and altered the NASA temperature records to coincide with Co2 levels. This heating period ended in about 2000 with the hottest year of the cycle in 1998 well below the 1934 record year. Since then low solar activity has allowed cooling to set in and real scientists are watching carefully to see what direction temperatures are going to do. Recently Hansen, Gore and some of the other alarmists have admitted to 20 years or more of cooling before it starts warming again, but they at this point are guessing the same as anybody else!
