Question:

Natural and strong nails, nail-biter...?

Okay I am trying to kick the habit of nail biting, I am 18 and have done it for as long as I can remember... Today I brought some Rimmel Nail Recovery and have put this on.

I'm wondering what tips are there to keep my nails strong and help stop myself picking or biting at them? I understand it is a long process but I'm really trying this time round, thanks x

(how long does it take on average for a nice set of nails to grow stop short ones)

  1. To break yourself of the habit, most drugstores carry a product called Stop bite.  You apply it like nail polish, and when you put your nail in your mouth, the taste is HORRIBLE.  I had to use it when I was about 12, and after about a week of use, I have't bitten my nails since.  Down side, the taste stays in your mouth even if you try to brush.  But it worked!

To get your nails strong, take multivitamins (GNC Women Bone Density are great).  Also, if you have free time, like while watching tv, get a small bowl of milk and soak your fingernails in it for about 20 minutes.  Done it, and it helped my nails get thick again.

  2. Maybe try taping them so you can't bite them! :P jk lol! It might work though....... :) but I know that if you put clear nail polish on it everyday that it will strengthen ur nails! I think that stuff u bought will work good! It takes a while to get average strong nails! Good Luck! :D <3 ya ~ Zapporoni!

  3. The only way I stopped was by getting a gel set put on & then just letting them grow out. I would file down the gel set and eventually I had nice. long, strong natual nails. When I started biting my nails again I would get another set of gels put on and repeat the process. I don't bite them any more :-)

  4. unless you like eating nail polish, I suggest you always use it.

  5. Why don't you try replacing your nail-biting habit with another habit?  Try chewing gum all the time.  That way your mouth is busy, and you won't have the urge to bite your nails as much.

  6. I paint my nails with nail polish & I don't bite them as much.

It worked for one summer when my nails grew longer than I could remember but then when I was upset, I bit my nails again.

Nail polish is the only way I could stop.

For me, it normally takes a week and my nails to grow that it doesn't look like I bit them but it takes like a month for a new set of nails to grow.
