Natural ant killers and repellents that actually work?

I have a serious infestation of ants!! I've tried cayenne pepper cinnamon powder with cloves, pure white vinegar that I spray on them and they don't mind it. They're all over the cayenne pepper! When I spray them with alcohol they seem to die off but when I come back in the room the dead ones have disappeared! However they keep coming back! Salt used to work but now it attracts them by the thousands!

I've read about peppermint oil but I'm very doubtful that it will do anything. I must have mutated bionic ants or something. HELP!!!! They got in my bed and I woke with 4 bite marks. OUCH!!!!!!!

I need something tried and true AND NATURAL. Apparently borax isn't natural so I can't try that.

PLEASE GIVE SOMETHING THAT HAS WORKED FOR YOU. Because I can use Google and that's how I found out about the above and it just plain doesn't work,.

Thank you.

  1. Many years ago my Dad looked outside to see where they were getting in ,and fed them sugar outside. It worked for us then ,good luck

  2. You may not believe it because it seems so easy but the best thing I have used is soap.  You take some dishwashing soap and mix it with water (probably 50 parts water, 1 part soap) and put in a sprayer.  When the droplets hit the ant, it covers it in a film that prevents it from breathing and they stop instantly in their tracks.  It has the added benefit of cleaning their scent trails preventing them from finding their way to food

  3. I know you want to stay natural. But if you was to take the boric acid and mix it with some thing they like (say jelly) it will kill off the ants. Use only about 1 tsb to a small jar of jelly. It works and is very safe. Boric acid is in eye wash. It's safe Just not natural

  4. use the egg shell put direct on fire to burn toasted, flour it or make few bits on the ants's recents path then it should works well...

how natural your looking for ? please list the info, if egg shell not concider natural then try drown them with your saliva =)

  5. Hi there. I am not sure if this is natural enough for you, but I always use Johnson's Baby Powder and it works. If you sprinkle it the ants will not cross the line of powder and it does not kill them. Good luck!

  6. The only thing that has worked for me was using cleaner to get rid of their scent (I used bleach--I know not natural, but read on). The ant problem I had was small. They were coming into the bathroom...there was no food in there so I'm not sure what attracted them in the first place. I know many ants leave scent trails for others to follow and so they can find their way home and such. If this is true for your ants too then perhaps a good cleaner will do the trick. I just washed the area really good with bleach water. The mild soap I used to clean the floors normally wasn't enough, so hopefully there's a natural version potent enough to kill the scent trail. Maybe try scrubbing baking soda/water combo in where the ants have been moving. However, like borax which is a natural mineral, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), can be made artificially, so if you want something natural you'll have to background check that I guess or maybe try using your favorite natural cleaner undiluted--it may work! Good luck!

  7. Perhaps the following site will give you some additional ideas.

    Good luck.

  8. Well for starters, look for attractants. Make sure things are clean and wiped up so they have no reason to be there. Do a really deep clean. Also seal all your windows and doors. You can even seal the edges of your electrical outlets to help keep them out.

    Second, try this:

You MUST do it early in the morning, when all the ants are in their hole. And of course you have to be able to locate their ant hill.

Boil two large pots of water. Take the two boiling pots outside first thing in the AM while the ants are still inside. Pour the first pot slowly into the ant hill. Wait for a few minutes, then do the second (to get further into their winding home). This should kill them.

Also have you tried marigolds? They seem to work well fo me as a repellant.

If you can't find your ant hill, it may be under your home. In which case you're screwed. Boric acid is not natural but if you have no other choice, you can mix it with flour and water or shortening to make small little balls. That way the chemical is more contained and less likely to be tracked around te house. If you hide them well, kids an pets won't find them but the ants will take bits of it back to their nest, killing the whole clan. Usually you only need to do this once and it will take care of them. Bu it should be a desperate last resort, of course and only if you can't find the hill.

  9. why pay for an ants hangover

collect cigarette buts and soak them in a barrel

after a week spray with the dirty brown mixture
