Natural deterrent for snails?

What can I put around my newly planted herbs to stop snails eating them? Something natural please.

Don't use any kind of salt around your plants.  It will kill them over time.

Crushed eggshells or garden grande diatamaceous earth ( not the kind used for swimming pools ) will keep snails and slugs at bay.  Snails and slugs are soft bodied creatures and the eggshells or DE are coarse.  They can't crawl over it comfortably.

If you drink beer put some in a pan, like an aluminum pie pan, and put it in your garden. The snails/slugs will be attracted to it and they will die.

Sorry, if you don't drink, I don't know another solution.

I had problems with snails and slugs, I sprinkled used coffee grounds around my flowers. You can also sprinkle coarse cornmeal around the plants.  Snails have very sensitive skin and dislike the feel of the cornmeal. Good Luck!

Crushed egg shells!

They work great on slugs and snails because they are sharp and cut them to shreds.

place a trail of rock salt around the base of the pots - snails will not go over this

sorry I don't speak English well, I am Brazilian.  

Haul of the beer in pots suggested already, you can make traps with orange, cut an orange in two parts removes the juice and put them with the border returned down, during the day the snails hide of the sun and they seek a place with food and shadow, like this being they take refuge under the orange oh it is only to collect and to put in the garbage.

Hi there :) I have heard that spreading ash around the plants keeps snails away. I myself use salt, but in small amounts. Good luck
