Question:

Natural / holistic dentist ?

I'm looking to have my old dental fillings removed. There is nothing wrong with them besides the fact that the "silver" fillings I received as a child actually contain mercury. I don't care about any study that says X μg/day/year/whatever amount of mercury is safe. Once the fillings are removed they are considered "toxic waste" so there is no difference if they are still in my mouth. I want them out...

Does anyone know of a dentist who specializes in the safe removal of the fillings in Florida? Is there a network I can search for this? I'm also interested in dentists who don't use x rays. I've already tried google but haven't found anything...

  1. first of all, any dentist that works without x-rays could be sued by every patient for malpractice.  So I dont think you'll find one of them.  Some take less than others, but they all take some.

FYI- the largest amount of mercury that you will be exposed to due to dental procedures is the REMOVAL of existing restorations.  This is a proven fact.  Certain procedures can be adhered to to limit the exposure, but there is no such thing as a "safe" removal of amalgam.  Sorry.

If you are that concerned about the mercury, the safest thing is to leave them in.  If you are set to get them out, request the use of a rubber dam.  It traps the majority of the waste water.  The mercury that is vaporized can still be inhaled unfortunately

  2. you are getting wonky after reading a lot of stuff.
