Does anyone know where you can find natural locations in China that haven't turned into busy cities? I have always wanted to visit and look up on the places that i have seen in popular and classic chinese martial arts type films. I especially like the location that Jet Li stays in when he visits the village where they are all growing crops etc in Fearless.

Hani Terraces are meant to be the best and are submitted for World Heritage Site status.

They can be found in Yuanyang County, Yunnan.

  3. by the they dressed in the movie, I think it's probably somewhere in the southwest of China.

but there should be plenty of those places, as long as you stay off the east coast.

  4. there's this great place called Li Bo.  its a destination for locals. i'm pretty sure it was in the guang xi province.

  5. 3 gorges is a great place, where the dam was built. there is a small tourist attraction called Feng Du Ghost town and it is a ghost town, literally!!!!

  6. There is this FABULOUS place called Shaxi Valley in the Yunan province. There is a little inn in a tiny village run by a man named Wu Yunxin and his family. They are so hospitable and the scenery is incredible, you're completey surrounded by mountains and ricefields. the stars at night are INCREDIBLE, and the big dipper is seen PERFECTLY. The inn is in an old monastery and Yunxin and his family run it. You'll get to experience real rural china, and it's really an experience to never be forgotten. It's a little out of the way, about a 4 hour ride from Lijiang airport. But, it's well worth it. Yunxin speaks english REALLY well and will take you around to see temples and different sites within the valley.

  7. Jiuzhaigou is wonderful, it's touristy but not a big city. Hit Guangxi province for the limestone peak and rice paddy kind of scenery. Guilin and Yangshuo are big with tourists, but the surrounding villages are great, especially Xingping.
