I am required to take the natural log of a set of values to form a semi log graph and plot them against time (i.e. semi- log y vs x). What does it mean by natural log and how would you do this on the calculator?

e.g. if i wanted to find the natural log of 68 what would it be?

(is it just ln7?)

  1. Natural logarithms are logarithms to base e, and these are usually denoted by ln, as you suggest.

The inverse function to ln is exp, which will probaly appear as e^x on your calculator.

    If x = ln(y), then y = e^x.
