Natural selection biology help?

Student researching the inheritance of seed shape (round and wrinkled) and seed colour (yellow or green) in peas, grew so plants from round yellow seeds and then allowed those plants to self pollinate. The seeds produced by their plants were counted and the results were as follows:

Round yellow - 898

Round green - 301

Wrinkled yellow - 296

Wrinkled green - 99

What are the dominant and recessive relationships for each?

What are the parent and offspring genotypes? (please explain answer)

Ratios?

I just wanted to point out the lovely juxtaposition of the first two answers.

The biologist (Lee S) actually knows the answer and helps you out.

The creationist (jim761076) doesn't know the answer and doesn't care one iota about helping you.  How in the heck does he go from peas to lizards to elephants to dinosaurs in your question?!

Creationism provides NO information whatsoever.

The goal of Creationism is not to aid understanding of biology ... it is preach religious dogma while people are *trying* to understand biology.

The goal of Creationism is to introduce NOISE.

P.S. ... I just LOVE the irony of his accusation that it is the *scientists* who are engaging in a "purely subjective and a gross oversimplification of the facts of the process."  LOL!

While this is a good experiment to see empirically how available genes turn on and off and are mixed throughout the population, it cannot be extrapolated to assume that peas with a different color or a slightly different shape means that a pea can turn into a lizard.

The information is in peas to produce a variety of peas. The information is not in the peas to produce a lizard. Evolutionary teaching always gives a thousand examples of a minor variation and then makes you swallow that the variation can account for all of the biosphere. You cannot turn a pea into a tiger, an elephant, a carrot, or anything else. For over 5,000 years of recorded history, peas have been peas, dogs have been dogs, corn has been corn.

Scientists will also like to line up fossils to try to show that dinosaurs turned into humming birds. This is purely subjective and a gross oversimplification of the facts of the process.

Just some things to remember when studying peas.

God made the pea and He made you.

Ratio is 9 to 3 to 3 to 1

parents are heterozygous for both traits so both are RrYy  Round is dominant over wrinkled and yellow is dominant over green.  This is done by a 16 square punnett.  

This is not natural selection by the way this is fundamental Mendalian genetics.
