  1. Eat soy protein. Soy isoflavones have been the subject of numerous studies and the subject of more than 1,000 articles in medical and scientific journals the past decade. Researchers have found that soy phytoestrogens (plant estrogens that act like natural estrogens when ingested) help prevent bone loss in menopausal women, and that they lessen hot flashes, night sweats, and breast tenderness. It’s no wonder the average woman in Japan, who eats four to six servings of soy every day (100-200 mg soy isoflavones) experiences one third the menopausal symptoms and a far lower death rate from breast cancer than women who live in the West.

Exercise! It lowers stress hormones, boosts your energy, builds bone mass, and increases immunity. Choose an activity that you like (walking, dancing, yoga, tennis) and do it several times a week.

  2. I can't give specifics online as each remedy is very individual to the person; but a good herbalist/naturopath would be able to give you a inexpensive mix to deal with any hormone irregularities.

From a Naturopathic, Herbalist & Nutritionist point of view; those symptoms are all signs that make us look at first of all your elimination...

Did you know for each meal you eat you should be defecating that many times a day, with no straining or pain associated?

If not make sure your diets high in natural soluble and insoluble fibre - lots of fruits, whole grains, legumes, vegetables, seeds & nuts.

Do you drink  minimum 8 glasses of filtered/purified water a day?

Elimination is the first thing to be considered as if your not eliminating properly then your not removing wastes which back up & consequently cause major health problems.

Secondly your liver. Skin problems, menstrual problems & mood swings are ALL signs that your liver is not functioning properly.

For the liver a good home remedy that can easily be taken to increase the removal of toxins & restore liver function is a  raw juice mix consisting of Equal parts (washed & peeled if not organic, just washed if organic) Carrot, Celery, Beetroot. 1cm square of ginger can be added for increased absorption though the stomach into all parts of the body & 1 clove of garlic for increasing immunity as it's a Chologogue to directly increase the secretion of bile & it's expulsion from the gallbladder & is slightly laxative in it;s properties so that it increases elimination which comes back to my first point of check - the digestive & urinary system. Garlic also kills microbes, bacteria, parasites, worms, increases natural killer cells, increases potential to kill tumour cells among others.

This is a great way to get on top of your health at home but if you still are experiencing the above symptoms i'd suggest a good naturopath or herbalist who also uses iridology to get your problems resolved by finding out the actual cause of your symptoms :-)

  3. Yes, Evening Primrose Oil is one of several natural products that can help balance out women's hormones. The most popular ones would be Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Vitex (also called Chasteberry), Wild Yam, Damiana Leaf, Motherwort, GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, commonly in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil), and some Soy germ products.

We've got thousands of customers that take any combination of these for various reasons based around their hormones including periods, cramps, mood swings, and other "monthly issues". Good luck!
