Question:

Natural ways to deal with horrible cramps?

Please do not tell me to use a heating pad. My cramps are so bad that Advil barely makes a difference, let alone a heating pad. Also, I do not have endometriosis, because I had a checkup with the gyno recently and I was fine. All I want to know is if there are any natural remedies for cramps that are AS STRONG if not stronger than Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, etc. Thanks!

  1. If you dont have enough oxygen in your blood your periods will be really cramping do this Iron deficency test: Go to the mirror and pull your lower eyelid and see if the color is red or flesh color. If its flesh colored you are lacking enough iron and should take a herbal iron like Floradix. It will take a month to see a difference. Iron carrys oxygen in your blood and if you dont have it you will feel tired, cold hands and feet, headaches, RLS, dull brittle hair, brittle nails, poor sleep, pale skin (see thru), shortness of breath, fatigue, poor concentration, low mood, ringing in the ears, cracks in the corner of the mouth, dizziness, fainting, sore tongue and canker sores oh and pale mucous membranes in lower eyelid.

  2. If your uterus is tipped, what Bubbles said may work well.

Just as there are numerous causes, there are various methods for relieving menstraul cramps.

Acupressure on certain points work fairly well for many women.

Most women also need to look into diet, to adjust it for better nutrition intake, eliminate some of the junk food and take some oils such as flax oil to provide essential fatty acids.

  3. In Chinese medicine, very strong cramps with sharp pain would indicate blood stagnation in the uterus and would require blood moving herbs such as red sage root in a formula along with herbs to break up Liver Qi Stagnation.

  4. Chinese herbs such as Huixiang and stacks of others are supposed to be very good and you can find them in a web search for "menstrual cramps" + "chinese herbs".

  5. Drink more water. Stretch more. And smoke some "natural" plant you can get from the corner drug dealer. This mighty herb can do wonders for your cramps.

  6. Has your doctor tested you for Celiac Disease?  If not, why not?  This disease is common (but rarely diagnosed by medical docs) and commonly causes dysmonnorhea.

    Best wishes and good luck.

  7. An old friend told me this and it worked for me,  lay on the floor with your butt against the wall and your legs up the wall.  Now lift your hips and slip a pillow under so your pelvis is tilted up and back.  supposedly it tilts your uterus back to a better position to help with cramps.  it worked for me and felt very good, like relieving pressure on lower abdomen.  worth a shot and costs nothing.
