Occasionally, I suffer from anxiety attacks, not often though. But, when I do have them I would really like to know a way to help calm myself down or prevent them from happening in the first place.

  1. Rescue remedy works or a tincture of lemon balm. Check out redmoonherbs.com

  2. I don't have anxiety attacks, but I find kava to be relaxing. I drink it as a tea or take it in a capsule.

You might try breathing exercises, relaxation response training, or yoga. A Google search should turn up more info on those techniques.

Of course, professional help is often the best way to go.

  3. There are many different natural ways to treat anxiety.  Try St. John's Wort, magnesium supplements,  a b-complex, chamomile tea, valerian tea, passionflower tea, GABA, etc.

The teas would probably make you calm down the fastest, or if you want to just prevent them, I would try a b-complex.

Be careful of driving after taking most of these, since they create a sedative effect.

  4. Bach's Rescue Remedy is always good to have on hand for attacks.

Also the following nutrients may help:

    Multivitamin & mineral complex

    B-Complex

    Vitamin C

(For nutritional balance and adrenal support)

Calcium 2000 mg daily - a natural tranquilizer

Magnesium 600 mg daily - relieves tension, spasms, tics

B-1 50mg 3 times daily - has a calming effect on the nerves.

B-6 50mg 3 times daily - important in the production of certain brain chemicals.

Zinc- 50 mg daily - can have a calming effect

Chromium Picolinate - 200 mcg. daily - Chromium deficiency can produce symptoms of anxiety.

  5. I would recommend meditation and biofeedback methods. they really work best in the long run
