Naturalization from Green Card. Lawyer necessary??

My wife has had her Greencard for about 6 years and she wants to apply for a US passport. Is it necessary for us to hire an immigration lawyer to apply, or that's something you can do yourself? Please let me hear your opinion. Thanks!

  1. If you don't have any issues, such as convction, out of status, you can do it. Read the instruction of N-400 first and see if you need lawyer's help.

  2. FILLING OUT FORMS FOR IMMIGRATION CAN BE DIFFICULT

BUT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE

YOU CAN GO TO WWW. USCIS.GOV  AND DOWNLOAD THE PAPERS FROM THE INTERNET

    LOOK UNDER FORMS

    I BELIEVE IT'S THE N400

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS AND ALWAYS MAKE COPIES FOR YOURSELF

CHECK AND RECHECK ALL DOCUMENTS MAKING SURE YOU HAVN'T MISSED ANYTHING

IF YOU DO, IT CAN DELAY THE PROCESS.

YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP THEN WHEN APPROVED  AND NATURALIZED  YOU CAN  APPLY FOR A  PASSPORT

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR FROM IMMIGRATION WITHIN A YEAR AFTER MAILING  OUT FORMS

    HOPE THIS HAS BEEN  HELPFUL

    DEE DEE

  3. My friends wife just went through the same thing and she did it without the use of an attorney.  There can be lots of questions though so you can try searching sites like the one below to find an immigration lawyer that may be able to provide some sort of consultation.  Good luck!
