  1. this is such a difficult question.....i was raised by my mother...i behaved as she taught me even though it felt unnatural....i met my father as an older child but i never really got to know him until i was 30 and i found that i actually feel more comfortable in my life when i am able to behave in a way which is natural which is more like my father.....but on the other hand i am raising a child and she is not biologically mine.....she is so natural in her mimicing of me....she feels like she is my child and she behaves like me......i think personally even with that experience that nature wins out....nature is not able to be changed...you can dress it up but when worst comes to worst nature kicks in and leads us where we naturally would go

  2. Nurture is more important in influencing the life and actions. Nature is important for carrying on bloodlines and trying to create a better person by birth, but really, all children that are healthy at birth have the same potential, its just up to those raising them to give them the opportunities, support, love, education, freedom and guidance to help them be what they can.

Here is an actual example. Two kids, born same year 1982, lived about a block apart. One had a very strong  famiy unit, including all her aunts, uncles and cousins would still go to Grandma and Grampa s house every Sunday after church for dinner. They were loving, gave the kids the freedom to  be kids, but also gave the the opportunities to try new things and learn about what they wanted to.

The second child grew up less than a block away. His parents were out of work drug dealers and addicts. There was no positive attention paid to that child. In fact, from the time he was three, he was used as a pawn/distraction to keep store crews busy while his mom ripped off the store. He was physically beaten, emotionally worn and torn down, and the saddest little boy I have ever met.

As a student myself, I babysat for the first family as a way to pay tuiton for college. Got to know the second little boy just because it didn't seem fair he didn't have anyone. Both these kids were equal in intelligence at age 3, both were inquisitive, well mannered, and fun to play with. We did lots together.

As they aged, the little boys life got much rougher. After numerous calls to get him pulled out of an extremely abusive home, the police took him to a sort of juvie hall. He thrived there, knowing he could count on regular meals, no beatings, and time to learn. Once he got going really well, they put him back in the original home, and within days he fell into a deep depression and began acting out. At age 7, his psychologist said he had the capacity to either be another Einstein or another Charles Manson. He tested genius, just like the girl down the street. But he had no stability in nurturing, no home that was a safe place, and although there were a group of us outsiders who wanted the best  for this kid, and did all we could to help him realize what is possible, he slid through life until he went after the people who didn't protect him....tried to kill them. And now he is in jail. He loves prison, because again, he has more nurturing there than he ever did at home.

The little girl? She became a Rhodes Scholar, travelled the world and was married at age 23, and is now home schooling her too little boys. Giving them the love and nurturing she experienced.

  3. There are several ways in which to study socialisation.

The nature versus nurture argument which will always be debated because no one will agree totally with either one.

I think it is a combination of all factors including family (genetic), education, cognition, country of origin  idealogy and even a smattering of behaviourism.

    Some theorists you could read:-

    Piaget,

    Foucault,

    Jung,

    Skinner,

    Berger & Berger,

    R,D.Laing.

There are many others but you will find them because they all refer to each other.

  4. Nature for me i am  not  a  nature totally.Skinnarian psychology(physiology) will disagree but cognition is  the only   way to go. That is my  and  most psychologists. Behaviorism is not cognition totally and if you have nurtured things you are teaching them to LEARN. not condition

And of course you are welcome. Good luck on the project.

  5. They are equally as important. If your doing this for a project, look up some twin studies that show that nature is just as important as nurture. These studies are really interesting and will give you some arguments for both sides.

    Look at these:

Google "nature versus nuture" or "twin studies" and find more to base your project on.
