Naughty Dog nostalgic about Jak & Daxter, want to return to it sometime in the future
Naughty Dog may have spent the last few years in the gaming world’s spotlight for its award winning and critically acclaimed Uncharted series, yet it seems the developer still has a soft spot for another one of its gifts to the gaming world.
Jak & Daxter was on the most loved and successful gaming franchises on the PlayStation 2, read previous generation of video game consoles. The game is yet to emerge from the Stone Age and make an appearance on any next generation consoles, though Naughty Dog seem to want to change that.
According to the co-president of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, there seems to be a growing interest among fans for a return to the Jak & Daxter universe, "What I hear a lot recently is to make another Jak & Daxter game."
He admitted that the studio would not pass up a chance to work on the game but they were using all their resources on the Uncharted series in an effort to make it the best they could.
"My answer always is we'd love to do it, there's a lot of love for the franchise and it has a special place in our hearts for sure, but we're sort of heads down, working on one game at a time now and are focusing on Uncharted, but we'd love to go back to it at some point," added Wells.
So it seems, for the time being at least, that a new Jak & Daxter game will not be making its way into the hands of gamers anytime soon, though the reason for lack of action seems to justify it. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves raised the bar in the gaming world in terms of gameplay, storytelling and graphics and Naughty Dog will need all hands on deck if it wishes to emulate it with their third instalment in the series.
Till then, it seems fans of the series will have to make do with PlayStation Move Heroes for any Jak & Daxter action, as the motion controlled game features both the protagonists as playable characters.
