The developer of the Uncharted series took some time out to give everyone a few tid bits of information on their upcoming title The Last of Us.
There is always a fair amount of speculation surrounding any title that is teased, especially if it is teased the way Naughty Dog did with their superb trailer for their upcoming IP. A trailer and a few screenshots were released since the trailer’s debut,
yet very little else came out of the tight lipped studio.
For those who are not familiar with the developments surrounding the game, it basically revolves around two characters, one of which is a teenage girl named Ellie, as they look to survive in a post apocalyptic world.
A teaser trailer showed a special type of fungus taking over an ant’s body and it seems that a similar situation has happened with humans as they turn into a fungi version of zombies.
The developers also commented that they want to redefine the genre by making the game more of an ‘experience’ than an actual video game.
Cut to the present day and the developer, who has been behind the critically acclaimed Uncharted games, opened up a bit more about what kind of experience gamers could expect with The Last of Us.
Starting things off with gameplay and it seems players will find themselves switching between hand-to-hand combat and gunplay to take down their foes. However, as a player uses the same weapon repeatedly it will begin to wear out, forcing players to look
for new makeshift items they can use to keep themselves alive.
There were also concerns as to how the gameplay mechanics would cater towards Ellie’s character as it was confirmed that she would be AI controlled. However, the folks over at GameInformer managed to play a demo of the game and had no complaints with Ellie’s
character, which is a great bit of news.
As for the rest of the game’s details, well they still remain shrouded in mystery, though one can expect a number of announcements to be made at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.
