Nava Carvajar wins fifth stage of Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe 2011
Velo Club Grand Case team’s John Nava Carvajar showed a brilliant effort in the fifth stage of Tour Cycliste International De La Guadeloupe 2011 on Wednesday, August 10.
The French cyclists took the total of 3 hours, 49 minutes and 19 seconds to cover the distance of 138.6 kilometres.
José Chacon of Gwada Bikers 118 was runner-up and Jose’s team-mate Miguel Ubeto finished third with the difference of 2 minutes and 18 seconds ahead of Ilya Davidenok and Arman Kamyshev while the race leader Boris Carene crossed the finish line in ninth
place.
In the beginning of the stage, the three cyclists Nathan Brown of USA U23 National, Abdraimzhan Ishanov of Kazakhstan and David Boutville become adventurers of the day, as the 15 cyclists hit the score from the large group.
In the final kilometres the four cyclists formed a breakaway lead including, John Nava Carvajar (Vélo Club Grand Case), José Chacon (Gwada Bikers 118), Miguel Ubeto (Gwada Bikers 118) and Ilya Davidenok (Kazakhstan). All of them working well and managed
to gain an advantage of a few seconds while Ubeto and Davidenok were caught by the peloton.
Jose Chacon launched an attack to take a lead but failed and Carvajar increased his pace and managed to cross the finish line first ahead of the other riders.
Ryan Eastman (USA U23 National Team) was in good form and tried to catch the leading riders but unable to maintain his pace and took 17th spot with the difference of 3 minutes and 45 seconds ahead of Regis Marechaux.
Gwada Bikers 118 team’s Boris Carene started the race slowly to throw down difference and showed a tremendous effort took overall standing with the timing of 19 hours, 42 minutes and 7 seconds.
Klaas Sys (Veloce Club Rouen 76) was in second place with 1 minute and 1 second down to Carene. Miguel Ubeto ended third with difference of 5 minutes and 49 seconds in front of Willy Roseau. The stage winner Carvajar was in 19th spot with the
difference of 15 minutes and 59 seconds.
The sixth stage will start in Capesterre and end in Gosier while all cyclists will wrap the distance of 162 kilometres.
