Naval Petroleum Reserves?

Why have the oil companies drilled and capped these. Why aren't they actively pumping? It has nothing to do with the Navy.

  1. For the same reason they needlessly tie up the refining and pipeline capacities: So they can create artificial shortages, jack up the prices, and reap record profits.


  2. They would if they could but off shore drilling was banned for enviromental reasons. Now, with oil in high demand and 90% of the earth's oil underwater they are hoping to cut the red tape and pump.

  3. don't need it now, funny how they're trying to get free riegn in anwr but have extra wells capped and ready to go.
