I had my belly pierced on saturday.

I am just wondering how long it takes to start getting the gooey stuff coming out of it? ( sorry i don't know the word?)

Also, it hurts if i touch the bar that is under the skin? is this normal?

i am washing it three times a day with salt water. and then making sure there is no moisture left near or in the piercing

I don't know what to do with having a shower because the shampoo and soap will go in it, is this ok?

will my piercing get infected?

Thanks x

    just rinse the shampoo off with water and it shud b fyn, i just use that savlon spray stuff that most piercers reccomend, it helps alot :)

  4. it takes ages for them to heal properly, spray it with savlon spray, make sure you wash all soap off when in the shower

    its not infected unless it gets really red and angry

    its only 2 days after you had it done so it will hurt at the moment!

  5. Mine still has gooey stuff and I have had it a while now. Use surgical spirits instead of salt water, it's better.

  6. You're doing everything you should be. Don't worry about getting shampoo on it in the shower, as long as you bathe it with salt water after it will be fine. It's normal for it to be tender to the touch, some people don't get the gooey stuff, depends on how often you clean it.

    Edit...

    I just found this advice on a piercing website;

    "Q6. What should I use to clean my piercing?

    Your body piercer will advice you on aftercare.

    We recommend using Saline Solution to clean your piercing, or boiled salt water. (But ask for your piercer's advice on making a good saltwater cleaner.)

    Always clean and dry your piercing with cotton. Disinfectants are often too strong or harsh to clean a healthy piercing with and sometimes cause aggravation.

    If you suspect you have an infection you should feel free to consult your piercer and G.P. A zinc supplement will often help boost your immune system, helping your body heal itself."
