Navigate your way to a winner with Golden Compass
In this ever-changing world of modern technology, the betting exchanges are having a huge effect on market movers. More well-backed favourites are winning, and supported big-price runners’ are making the frame.
A horse that was subject to one of these market moves on his racecourse debut was Golden Compass, who was backed in from double figure prices just before the off in a Wolverhampton maiden in May. Unfortunately that gamble was foiled, as Giles Bravery’s (who had an impressive winner at Huntingdon yesterday with Iceman George) two-year-old couldn’t recover from missing the break in the five-furlong race, but despite being off the track for over 130 days, the switch to seven furlongs today in the European Breeders´ Fund Somac Services Maiden Stakes at Lingfield could be a recipe for success, especially if once again the filly attracts some market support.
Piano has showed enough ability in his three previous starts to suggest he can make a winning handicap debut today for John Gosden in the tagworldwide.com Handicap.
The Cheveley Park owned three-year-old filly has been well backed on all of his racecourse starts to date, but hasn’t quite worked out how to win races just yet. Her most impressive performance came in her previous start where she made encouraging late headway to finish third behind a progressive looking Sir Michael Stoute runner.
However, the quality of that maiden has given her a mark of 67, which looks a tad harsh on face value, but against some rather exposed runners today she should have enough in the locker to defy the official ratings.
