Have there been incidents of navigation systems directing people into difficult situations? Like directing a driver down a flight of steps?

  1. My Road Angel often wants to take me through Hilbrow - it obviously is not scared of being grabbed through a smashed side window...

Honestly I would rather drive down a flight of stairs any day - the chances of survival of a lot greater....

  2. Lol Cakes I don't know about South Africa, but I brought my Hubby Sat Nav  ok,so we got to this place at Christmas, after boxing day we left, chareged the Nav,now we are going home,h**l Cakes I laughed so much, cause of going home we landed at our Supermarket, and Mister was spitting Feathers to Kingdom come.xxxx

He gave it away and are now using his TRUSTED road Maps can you believe it????xxxx

  3. My Garmin has been a Godsend where I'm at now. Some streets are not signposted in English, only in Chinese, so having the English maps on my Garmin has been a real boon. Also, seeing the names in the Roman alphabet, I can learn to read more Chinese characters. It has lots of other features that are useful, such as where to find garages, supermarkets, you name it. However, on the odd occasion, where roads have changed since the previous map update, I've been directed to drive into a fence, but all in all, it's great!

  4. I only use my garmin once a month to find golf courses, and the only problem i find is that it takes you to the course but not to the gate,

and these gated off places can also be a pain, when that bloody woman,s voice keeps telling you to make a u turn when it,s a one way street.

But all in all these things are a godsend.

  5. Not that i know about but i would trust maps to get me where i need to be

  6. It's a laugh a minute in Cornwall we get artics with forty foot trailers on, jammed up solid in tiny villages we have had two recently that had to be lifted out with a crane

  7. We havent used ours in SA yet, just in the US.

But I have heard that in SA they dont recognise security estates and might drive you through one as a shorter route which wont work as they dont let you in.

we use Shells geostar its an online map, and that has the same issues as above
