Question:

Navigo card in Paris?

i'm going to paris from friday to monday, and as my hotel is located slightly away from the centre, i will be travelling by metro etc quite a bit. i heard that the Carte Orange is being phased out and is gradually being replaced by the Navigo card. I know that the weekly version of the Carte Orange starts only on Monday and finishes on Sunday (its validity cannot be started on any other day), so that would be no good for me. Does anyone know if the Navigo card also works in this manner, with regard to the validity period?

Merci beaucoup! :)

  1. The Navigo is really just different technology. The basics don't change much.

What you need is a Mobilis, a one day pass. it costs 5.60 euros for zones 1-2 (which is all of Paris proper plus the first ring of suburbs. (by the way, the Mobilis is not described on the English version of the RATP site.)

  2. Just a quick addition to Rilifan's excellent (as usual) answer.

There is also a young person's version of the Mobilis card avalaible at week ends. You would be eligible for this if you are under 26. Can't remember exactly, I think it's 3 euros for Saturday or Sunday.
