Are the benefits the same when serving for only two years active duty? What benefits can I expect after I complete the two years? Does medical/dental, G.I. bill, BAH, salary all end when I am inactive? Thank you!

  1. I'm pretty sure medical/dental, BAH, and salary end once you are discharged. As for GI Bill, as long as you contributed the $1200 for MGIB and have an honorable discharge, you should be eligible to use the GI Bill.

  2. Yes, all is the same while you are active. However, you must remember, your 2 years of active service contract states that you must then do 6 years of in active reserve, which means they can, and probably will, recall you back into active service for as long as they need you.

Your GI bill gets paid off in a year, but you MUST sign up for it in basic or else you wont be able to start it ever again.

  3. I believe if you do 2 years active, you have to do the reserves for 6 years. I am not sure about the GI Bill. I thought it was only given to people who do 3+ years of active duty. Talk to a recruiter. They will give you the most up to date info!
