  1. Since carriers and larger ships have "H" Divisions with lots of Hospital Corpsmen and Doctors assigned to that division your chances are good for sea duty in one of those ships, even after graduation from Class A Hospital Corps School.  Your contract to join the Navy is for four years of active duty followed by four years in the Reserves. You won't be enlisting as a Hospital Corpsman. You might be enlisting with a pre-enlistment guarantee for Hospital Corps School if you qualify on your test scores.

  2. Corpsman enlist for a minimum of 5 years due to extended school, if your a male corpsman you will most likely be sent with marines on they;re tour, if they dont send you with marines, you will get sea duty, everyone in the navy does pretty much except for a very very short list of ratings. Navy corspman can reenlist just as much as anyone else.

I dont know about the guy below me but I can tell you I contracted as a corpsman and it was a minimum 5 year contract with a 3 year reserve time. Like I said its due to a long (6 month) A-school. Now there is a great article about it on about.com just look it up through google. It will tell you all the spec.s articles about what corpsman do I think there is a really good article about corpsman in the field with the marines
