Can an officer become a (K9) MA? Or would that be like down-grading?

What is the likelihood of becoming a pilot if you want to fly jets?

  1. MA is enlisted rate, officers are not 'rated' per se. If you qualify, you can fly. I suggest you talk to your local navy recruiter. There a hundreds of great officer and enlisted careers in the Navy.

  2. No you would not be a K9 handler or an MA as an officer.

If you qualify to be a pilot...you can be a pilot

  3. MA's have LDO's or limited duty officers. Prior enlisted (usually MA's) who have gained commissions. Jets is another matter. Classes of pilots fight for the chance to fly jets. Only the very top get jets. Out of my friends class only 1 of them got jets.

  4. no.  Canine perosnnel are E6s mostly.  there are no commissioned officers in the MA community..Only Warrants and LDOs.

you can only get K9 by re enlisting, basically..it is not an option for first termers.

as for Aviation: the qualifications are much more stringent that anyone merely seeking a commission.  and you don't have a choice in what you fly..they tell you.
