Navy Resv / Active Duty

Can you go active duty if you sign up for the navy resv. Can you cross over?

  2. Yes, after your 15 month reserve assignment, you can choose to go active if you want.

  3. Yes, you CAN but it's not automatic like the other two answerers are making it out to be.  You have to get permission from your reserve command to conditionally release you to an active duty status from a reserve status.  Permissions aren't always granted because of a number of reasons.  

    The 15-month active duty assignment is only for the National Call to service program.  Most reservists are under the "new ascession training" (NAT) program (traditional reserve).

    FINALLY, STOP USING THIS MEDIUM TO ANSWER QUESTIONS LIKE THIS ONE.  GO TO A RECRUITER.  THEY'RE NOT RETIRED!!  THEY'RE STILL ACTIVE DUTY SO THEY KNOW ALL THE UP-TO-DATE PROGRAMS AND REQUIREMENTS!!!!
