The S.E.A.L. teams are like any other specialized unit in that they are ALWAYS, ALWAYS in the market for top quality applicants. They don't wait until there is a need before recruiting and they will not lower their standards to fill positions. If you are interested in the unit, give it a shot.

Not at all, more then half the guys who enlist with an SO rating ultimately want to become a SEAL combat medic. The surplus is so large, that even if a Sailor was HM before going SEAL, there is no guarantee that he will become a Corpsman in the Teams, the top guys out of BUD/S will be selected to continue to 18D school and become the platoon corpsman.
