  1. It's both men and women

  2. I don't know, I would like to believe that it's both male and female

  3. When I joined the Navy combatent ships were men only. But before I got out they were intergrating women on nearly all classes of ships.

Submarines are boats and are still all male.

  4. On many ships, there are men AND women.  No different than working with women in a civilian firm.  Well, it's a LITTLE different, but I think you know what I mean.  I can remember when women first came on board and deployed on a ship (USS Vulcan ARG-3).  When I was on the USS L.Y. Spear AS-36 (now decommissioned), we took 114 women with us to Diego Garcia (atoll in the Indian Ocean).  When we 'crossed the line' each and every one of those women took part in the Shell Back ceremony.  I was honored to have the first enlisted female to cross on a U.S. Navy vessel (she has since passed away) as my 'Polywog.'   Would you believe over 40 'men' refused to take part in the Shellback initiation?  Weenies!

  5. Congrats on joining.

Sea deployment mostly depends on the ship you're on nowadays.

The larger ships are coed, carriers, cruisers, large amphib ships, and some destroyers.  All subs currently are male only.

All branches discourage inter-military relationships (wink, wink) though.

    Hope this helps
