while helping my mom dig a garden I found a old medal that appeared to be from the navy. Upon further research I was told that it was a suvenior from the first trip around the world with the first navy. The front has a picture of "fighting Bob" with the date on it. The date is 1908( i think, it is locked in a safe right now). When looking it up on the internet the information had the reference to " the great white fleet".

Any information, websites, or phone numbers to people who know anything regarding this commemorative medal would be wonderful. I tried to call the navy recruiter to inquire about it, but they wanted to lay claim to it. I have not found any pictures of it either. I do know that there were only about 500 printed.

I have already called muesums. no luck

Since its "dug", any ribbon is probably long gone and its likely not in the best shape, and so wouldnt command top price.  The market for items like this is thin, but there are medal collectors out there.

eBay has a category for medals (Coins & Paper Money >

Exonumia > Medals ).  You could search in the "completed auctions" but that only goes back a month, or watch to see if anything similar comes up, or just try listing yours to see what it will bring.

    Best of luck.
