1. Which is better for not deploying ?

2. Isn't the Navy freaking huge ?

3. Does the Navy "cherry pick" ? Aka forcing you to do a MOS other than the one you originally had..

1. First of all you don't join the armed forces if you don't want to be deployed. Expect to travel and live the expected life as a soldier. The Navy is a lot safer if thats what your asking for less combat but more stragetic and academic jobs.

2. Yes, the Navy is massive around 600,000 personals.

3. Yes, all of the 4 branches do that unless you score high enough on your test so then you can pick your top 3 jobs.

1. You seem like you don't want to deploy or want to stick close to home. The US Coast Guard is perfect for that. The Navy and Marines almost always deploy if active duty.

2. Yes, the Navy is huge. During wartime and/or invasion, they have the Coast Guard under Navy command.

1. Which is better for not deploying?: All branches of the US military are actively deploying personnel. Enlisting at this time, nearly guarantees deployment to Iraq or one of the other 820 bases around the globe. There is no "safe" bet.

2. The Navy has 373,830 active personnel. The Marine Corp has 186,209.  By sheer numbers, the Navy is huge.

3.  All branches of the service change duty assignments. They adjust their personnel to suit the present need.

4. Choosing to serve your country is not only noble, it can also provide valuable monetary benefits. You can earn credits for college, down payment for a home, etc.

My fiancee is Navy and I work at the clinic for them. Marines aways get deployed and seeing as my fiancee is a corpsman (for the marines) he gets deployed with them. Both have the same level for getting deployed but chiefs and officers are less likely than enlisted.

The navy is quite large yes but why's that a problem?

Yes, all branches tend to do that as they put you where jobs are needed.

All the ranks in the different branches make the same price. Like an E-5 in the coast guard will be making the same amount of pay as an E-5 in the Marines or the Navy. Have you decided what you want to do? Like as a job? When you talk to the recruiter, don't let them talk you into everything. They are very good with word manipulation. Tell them what you want to do and show how you are qualified to do that.

u will be deployed in both. if ur in the navy u will go out on a ship for months and if ur in the marines u will go to iraq or afghanistan. dont join if u dont want to deploy
