  1. well im in the Corps and i dont think theres any question as to whether a SEAL is better than your average Marine, they certainly are.But if you want to be a Marine you absolutely need to become Force Recon, which in my opinion is on par with SEALS, do the same style of water borne operations, cross train and operate with SEALS often.and dont let ANYBODY tell you Recon isnt special forces, the fact they are commanded by SOCOM alone means that they are, and as a matter of fact Recon was hesitant to go on missions with the newly formed SEALS in vietnam because they werent confident in the SEALs abilities.

  2. The Navy Seals train with Marines, go to the Marines! If you wanna be the best you gotta join the best!!!

  3. My son decided to go with the Marines because, unlike the other service branches, they promote based on performance and not written tests. Oh by the way, regarding the previous answer, check out how many Fortune 500 companies are run by ex-Marines. My neighbor's son is going into the Marines for firefighting training.

  4. news flash: you can't just decide to "be a SEAL".

Tons of people would like to be SEALs, but only a small percent of them qualify to even ATTEMPT to be a SEAL.  And of those who try out only a few actually make it.  In other words, it's not a slam dunk just because you're a smart guy who's wanted to be a SEAL since he was 11.

If I were you I'd thoroughly research HOW one becomes a SEAL and what the qualifications are, and then honestly estimate what your chances are.  If at that point you think your chances are good, go NAVY.

  5. To become Marine Recon you first must become a Marine.

    You should be able to

Run 3 miles in 18 min

    20 pullups  Dead Hang

80 situps in under 3 min

    Thats the beginning

Don't listen to the negative comments because I was told that I could never make it through Recruit Training.

Go for what you Want and work hard!!!!

  6. I may be biased because I am a Marine Veteran who served eight years as an enlisted Marine, but please disregard the answer provided by the individual above. The Marine Corps has a higher standard of conduct than any other military branch in the United States. Yes, the Navy SEALs are elite, but the Marine Corps isn't made up of a bunch of non-thinkers. To truly succeed in the Marine Corps, one must also be able to think on your feet, and complete difficult physical tasks.

Oh, and you don't have to join the Navy to become a SEAL. The Marine Corps sends Marines to BUDS training as well. Just something to think about.

  7. Becoming a Navy Seal requires good grades.  It is an elite force, and they have very strict requirements.  You have to be able to think quickly.  You may be better off being a Marine.  They don't want people who can think for themselves or are too smart.

  8. Dont join the navy..lol join the mens department, Marines and goto BUDs that way. good-luck
