Nazim Richardson is confident Sugar Shane Mosley will beat Manny Pacquiao – Boxing update
Nazim Richardson, trainer for Shane Mosley, has stated that Sugar Shane is in the best shape of his life and Manny Pacquiao, who has won 52 out of his 57 fights, could be in trouble.
Both fighters can easily be considered the finest ambassadors for the sport and are scheduled for a 12-rounder bout this Saturday at the World Boxing Organisation’s Welterweight Championship, which is going to be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The match between the two pugilists will also be televised live on pay-per-view on Showtime in homes and live streaming on the internet will also be available.
Richardson believes that Shane Mosley can pull off a shock defeat by beating the Fighting Pride of Philippines. He highlighted the fact that Mosley has more power and experience in fighting with high quality boxers when compared to Pacquiao. He also added
that Mosley couldn’t get a fight with Pacquiao when he was a champion two-year ago.
Richardson said “He [Mosley] doesn’t have to be Manny Pacquiao to win. He has to be Sugar Shane Mosley and if he is the best Sugar Shane than Pacquiao is in trouble.”
"What we fail to (remember) is that you're not talking about an ordinary guy getting older in the ring," said Nazim Richardson. "You're talking about a special guy, a legend Sugar Shane Mosley does not have to match Manny Pacquiao because Mosley is bringing
his own set of weapons."
Richardson’s comment was in reference to Pacquiao’s previous statement in which he said, "He's not old — he moves like 31, 32 years old."
Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, on the other hand, sees many flaws in Mosley’s fight and he believes beating Mosley should not be a problem for Pacquiao. Moreover, he believes his fighter can win the fight with a knockout, which will set his name in stone.
The fight has registered huge interest from fans and spectators. Tickets for the event were completely sold out in the first three hours upon the opening of the box office.
