You know you can gain cap if you release a player and a team will sign him, in that way you will gain cap space.

It's hard. During my 2nd or 3rd offseason, I traded Jason Terry's 9m contract to the Nets for nobody (during the resigning period) so that I'll have cap space to resign Gerald Green's 5.24m contract. Prior to that trade, my cap space was just -3 million I think so after the trade I was expecting 8m in cap space. Unfortunately I don't know why I only got 2m in cap space. Very disappointing.
