nean looks like it would be said lilke bean but its said like Liam

Ok maybe you are thinking of the girl's name Niahm?  You said it's pronounced "Knee-um". The girl's name Niahm is actually pronounced "Neeve"(and sometimes in America it's pronounced "Nev"), It's spelled Niahm because it's Irish but it's never actually pronounced that way. And for good reason in my opinion.

Why not go with Liam? Or Ian?

Nian is much better, imo.  The 2 E's in Neean is a bit much, considering the name is so short.  Hope that helps!
