A.  The mid-atlantic ridge is an area of divergent plates (two tectonic plates moving away from each other.  You get earthquakes from subconduction zones (which happens when two plates are moving towards each other), and since the plates of the mid-atlantic ridge are moving apart, they aren't colliding.  The San Andreas fault is off the western US coast.
