Nebraska Cornhuskers changing home routine
Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Bo Pelini has said he will change his club’s routine for Saturday 30 October when they take on the Missouri Tigers in Memorial Stadium.
The Cornhuskers are getting prepared to play against a highly skilled Tigers side, which is coming off a win over the former number one Oklahoma Sooners. The game is being billed as the biggest in week nine college football action and Nebraska plans to be
properly prepared.
The last game the Cornhuskers played at home they lost to the Texas Longhorns 20-13. In the match-up, the Nebraska offence was unable to get anything started and it led to their starting quarterback Taylor Martinez getting pulled from the game.
The Cornhuskers' poor play led many analysts to question the team’s abilities at home. The loss to Texas, coupled with the fact that the club has a worse winning percentage at Memorial Stadium then on the road since Pelini took over, had several Nebraska
fans questioning how they prepare for games.
After hearing the criticism this week Pelini decided to change how the team readied themselves for their home match-ups.
“I’m not totally buying into the whole thing, but you just don’t want to assume it’s not an issue,” said the Nebraska head coach. “We’ll do some things just a little different. It’s nothing drastic. To me, it’s all about making sure the distractions are
eliminated and give them the best opportunity to have their focus in the right direction.”
The club did not divulge what exactly it was they would be doing differently for Saturday’s game, but the players do not seem concerned.
“Last week, everyone built up Texas into being a big game and we didn’t win,” said wide-out Mike McNeil. “All of a sudden, we’re not good at home. We won all the home games before that...”
The Cornhuskers will meet the Tigers on Saturday in Lincoln.
