I am trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up. I would li/ke to know the benefits of teaching. Like health care and stuff like that. Also how much do you make? Is it true you only get paid once a month??

  1. The benefits health wise are compareable to other jobs.  Pay starts in the mid 30's to low 40's right now, but will be different when you start out.  It is lower than other jobs, but not terrible.  As far as paid once a month differnt places do different things.  I get paid monthly in VA, but in PA it is biweekly.  The first year of monthly was hard, but you adapt.  I use online banking to pay all my bills the first of the month then I know what is left I need to live off the rest of the month.  It is a job you should want to do no matter what the pay, because you have to be dedicated to get the job done right.  Good luck:O)

  2. Yes, it is true, I only get paid once a month.  You learn to live with that though....  As far as pay goes, I live in a rural area in Texas and make about $40,000 year (10 month contract).  Our health care really stinks as far as what I have to pay out each month.  To insure my family it costs approx. $900.00 a month.  HOWEVER, I do enjoy my job.  The internal rewards far outweigh the pay.  You definitely don't get into teaching for the money!
