Neck injury might trouble Mark Selby in 2012-13 Snooker Season campaign – Snooker Update
During the final proceedings of the previous snooker season, the Englishman Mark Selby suffered from a severe neck injury when he was up against the 2012 Welsh Open winner China’s Ding Junhui. He pulled out of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament at once
to get some treatment. He was not fully recovered when he participated in the 2012 World Snooker Chairman and crashed out of the mega event in the opening round.
After the end of the season, Selby received treatment for his injury but is still suffering from the injury’s side effects. Despite the fact that he is fully recovered from the problem there are still chances the injury might emerge again and trouble him
during his new season run. The Englishman is hoping for a healthy start of the new season without any problems in this season.
He said in a post on his official website, “I still don’t know the reason why it happened, whether it was while I was sleeping, the repetition of playing, or that it was just my body feeling the strain of constantly playing without much of a break. What
it has given me is a bit of a wake-up call.”
The Jester from Leicester added, “If it’s because I’ve been taking too much on and putting too much strain on my body to the extent that it got weak, then I might have to look at the diary for the season and plan it better. That means I doubt I’ll play in
every event, I’ll make the choice to miss the odd weekend here or there to give myself a break.”
Previous snooker season was a convincing finish for the World Number one from England, Mark Selby as he clinched the 2011 Shanghai Masters to climb to the top rank of the standings. It was a fresh start for him in the season which gave him a lot of confidence
to continue his tremendous game.
Later in his 2011-12 Snooker Season campaign, the Englishman grabbed a couple of minor ranking tournaments including the Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 4 and also made his way to the final stages of many noticeable snooker tournaments to retain his
number one spot.
