Nederland Bloeit picks up Emma Trott
Women’s cycling team Nederland Bloeit, the home of UCI World cyclo-cross champion Marianne Vos, has taken a major step forward, first with the signing of Sarah Düster and now with the addition of Emma Trott and the contract extension of their title sponsor.
“The team is much stronger in depth in recent years because we have taken the time to allow a bit more talent to flourish,” said Vos in a team press release. “So, in 2010 we had more than 60 victories, the most successful year ever; it will be hard work
to match that next year.”
This year, 20-year-old Trott became the British under-23 time-trial champion and also took sixth in the Holland Hills Classic and fifth in the Tour de Feminin. She is the fourth new signing after three riders from the former Cervélo TestTeam, Sarah Düster,
Emilie Aubry and Patricia Schwager.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Trott. “There have been times when I’ve wondered if it was ever going to happen for me but to be able to ride alongside Marianne and all the other girls is an incredible feeling. Just goes to show, keep going whatever
happens!”
Vos is a three-time World cyclo-cross champion, including the last two years. Her first win was in 2006, the same year she became the World road race champion. In 2008 she won the World track cycling points race and took a gold medal in the same competition
in the Olympic Games.
“I'll do everything to continue to improve in all areas, and ride even better,” said Vos. “I myself always want to know that I’ve done everything I could; hopefully I’ll have good results in cyclocross, on the road and on the track.”
Nederland Bloeit (translation: Netherlands Blooms) will remain the principle sponsor of the team, which is also home to race-winner Annemiek van Vleuten.
