Nedum Onuoha would welcome permanent Sunderland move
Sunderland defender Nedum Onuoha has revealed that he would welcome a permanent move to the club if his parent side Manchester City will allow him to leave.
Onuoha has settled in the Sunderland side after finding it difficult to make regular appearances for Manchester City. He says he's enjoying playing and could see his future in the North East.
"It was difficult leaving City. In pre-season I didn't think I was going to be in Roberto Mancini's 25-man squad, so it was a case
of staying and playing in the reserves or hopefully someone wanting you to be in their squad or side for the season," said Onuoha in the Sunday Mirror.
The defender has admitted that he still has feelings for Manchester City because it's the club he grew up with. However, Onuoha has England aspirations and must be praised
for actively seeking a move away from his parent side.
"I did leave City with a heavy heart, because I never expected myself to leave to be honest.
I'd been there so long, since I was 10, and I had the feeling I could be in the side.
But I wasn't, so you have the moment when you say, 'You have to do this, you have to move on'. It was a sad time," he added.
Onuoha has admitted that Sunderland ticked all of the right boxes when a number of clubs looked at signing him on loan. He has managed to hold down a starting place in
Sunderland and his game looks to be improving because of the loan deal.
"Thankfully Sunderland
came in and once they did it was a bit of a no-brainer.
This is a new home for me, so I can't complain at all. It has worked out very well. Steve Bruce
put some faith in me and said that he wanted me to be a big part of his season. You can't say no to that, can you?" he said.
Betting advice
Onuoha has proved he is a solid defender with the ability to score the odd goal. There is more than one way to make money from betting on him to succeed.
