  1. I taught a Sunday school class for kids this age.  Their attention spam is very short!  My kids enjoyed singing songs, story time with puppets, coloring (watch the little ones - they like to eat crayons!), follow the leader, Simon says, ring around the roses,

playing with play dough & blocks.  Hope this helps !  Have fun - this is such a fun age to teach.

  2. Well you can engage with the older children by using goldfish cards to help them reckongnie their #'s. For the younger ones try putting on some sing along video or some cool music little kids like to listen to. you can also try & help them walk and talk.

  3. Play some music and jump around (do little exercisies in the morning)..

Do things such as threading, (with big beads, so they cannot swallow them)... this helps with hand/eye co-ordination...

Give each child an instrument and play a tune.

Have texture cards (this helps with different sensations)

    GOOD LUCK!!!!! :-)

  4. take them outside as much as you can, fresh air is always a nice change.  introduce them to new things they can touch and play with, a soccer ball, playing in leaves is fun, find some leashes and take them for a fun walk, i know their not dogs, but i don't know what kind of neighborhood your in.

  5. At that age children really enjoy music and movement.  I would recommend getting some instruments and have a marching parade around the room/site.  The kids will really enjoy the music they make, it'll get them moving and it could even tire them out.

  6. Big colored plastic balls or cubes (too big to fit into little mouthes) and a few cardboard boxes.  Have the kids sort the items by color or shape.

  7. When I worked in a daycare, my kids loved to do art projects: sponge painting, finger painting, water colors, tracing their hands, gluing feathers/beads, coloring with crayons.  They loved to do simple cooking projects: making pudding, trailmix (have kids add cereal, goldfish, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, whatever, to a bowl and mix it up), break-and-bake cookies.  They also liked to race cars on a mat with streets on it and play in the "kitchen".  The sand table, a large tub filled with sand/rice/pasta, was something they liked.  I often hid other things in there, like pompoms or toy people, so they could search through the sand and find "treasure".  Story time, if it was short and done with preferred books, was often very successful.  Try having the kids sit on special "story time mats", colorful small carpets only used during story time, to make sitting for the activity seem very special.  Musical instruments were always a hit, especially if I was singing or turned on one of their favorite children's cds.  You could also set up a simple obstacle course, a tunnel (could be a sheet draped over some chairs) to climb through, and hill (could be a pile of pillows) to climb over, a road block to go around.  My kids LOVED to climb, so giving them an appropriate place to do that was always good.
