I have finally chose Barbados over Aruba, but have done minimall research on places to stay in Barbados. I was lookinng at the Crane resort (which has a white-pink sand beach, right?) but didn't know if there was any shopping/restaurants nearby. I am looking for a hotel near a beautiful, tropical beach with water that's not too rough and close access to some shopping/restaurants. Can you help? :P Thanks in advance - All recommendation on all aspects is certainly welcome!

  1. You can search and choose hotel information, rates and availability for free in over 200 countries world wide at my profile.

  2. I found some good deal on

    http://www.jetsetgotravels.com

    &

    http://www.jetsetgotravels.com/more_opti...

It provides search option like near a landmark etc

But beware ... cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel your are going to book.

Check the exact location of hotel from google maps.

  3. Try St. Lawrence Gap on the South Shore.  There's a remarkable variety of hotels and services.

  4. The Crane Resort is a nice place, and is a HUGE resort if that is what you are after, but it is not located nearby to very much in terms of restaurants or shopping except for the ones right on the property. Even driving you will be driving at least 20-30 mins to good areas with a variety of restaurants either on the West (more expensive) or South coasts. The other thing is that although the Crane is rated as one of the Worlds Top 10 Beaches, and although it is beautiful, it is generally not calm waters in terms of swimming, but more of a boogie boarding kind of surf, but they do have swimming pools. The South Coast is definitely a good bet for shopping, lots of restaurants that are fast and easy to get to, plenty of nightlife, etc and you can find some calmer swimming too. As somebody else said, Accra is great and you can usually find both calmer swimming and boogie boarding type of surf!

Check out www.ownersdirect.co.uk/cb95 for other rental options and info.

    Good luck!

  5. To begin let me say that Barbados is a very small island and no place is really that far from another.  So it really depends on if you plan to hire a vehicle or not.  If you do hire a vehicle well then you should have no problem staying at the Crane if not then....

Crane Beach is a beautiful resort with a lovely beach.  It is however in St. Philip which is quite "far" from Bridgetown where the majority of shopping is.  There are restaurants dotted all over the island and Crane Beach boast a couple good ones.

You may however want to consider someplace in St. Michael like the Hilton or maybe ACCRA or someplace on the West Coast.

    check out www.Barbados.org

Hotels in St. Michael or Christ church are closer to restaurants, shopping, good beaches and good night life.

St. James is on the West Coast,  hotels are a bit more expensive, the beaches are good, also close to shopping, not sure about the night life.
