Question:

Need Bulletin Board Idea for Child Care Room - "Colors"?

I'm putting a bulletin board together for outside of a child care room used for 0-12 year olds. The theme has something to do with colors; I bought a border that has different pictures of things naming their color (brown acorn, green turtle, and so on). The room itself is called the "Rainbow Room".

I'm looking for a very catchy saying to put on the board. Also, this particular room can not have anything personal about the kids (pictures, names, etc) posted on the board because it is a drop in childcare room at a health facility and there are privacy issues. But anything that ties in "colors" and "the rainbow room" and possibly even health/fitness...

ANY IDEAS???

  1. Have pictures of children from all over the world.  Show a good multi-cultural world - Rainbow children

  2. Why not use "Our pot of gold under the rainbow", put a rainbow on the door with a pot of gold under it with the pictures of kids (like the sick figures) on the pieces of gold.

  3. you can use any of the previous ideas or try on of these

have the children make a rainbow using material of various textures, tints , and sizes, shapes

make a rainbow using paper chains made by the children

use a variety of fruits and vegetables to make food prints in the colors of the rainbow,

use transportation as a theme and have them "run" on black and white roads

a great summertime idea is use beachballs, or hats, or other "beach" type toys to make your rainbow (also made using various techniques by the children)

sorry dinner is ready gotta go may add some more later

  4. There is a book called "The Crayon Box", that is about how all the crayons dont get along until they work together to make a picture, and see how all the different colors make something beautiful- my 4 year old makes me read this to him every night.  You could use this as your starting point and let the kids explore different countries and add their flags, etc.. each week to the bulletin board.

  5. I would suggest a rainbow of hands. Draw a large rainbow  separating the different  colors. Have the kids fill in the rainbow with different colored hand prints. Since you have a wide variety of ages you will have a wide variety of sized hands and it will look cool.

  6. "The Rainbow Room Rocks!"; it could have gemstones of all the color of the rainbow depicted on the outside; (red-ruby, green-emerald; blue-sapphire, black-onyx, white-opal or quartz, etc.); this would be sort of a play on words, as the older ones could relate to that aspect of it; and also they would learn some earth sciences.

  7. Colors on Parade (you could use die-cuts of children marching with colored balloons)

    A Rainbow Community

Rainbow Garden (with different colored flowers, shrubs and trees)

Flying Colors (different colored airplanes and birds soaring in the sky)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Wizard of Oz)

    Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas)
