Need Christmas Float Ideas?

Ok so its a little early in the year but I need to get a budget to the company I am helping do a float for. However i'm drawing a blank on ideas. This is a contruction company (road work) and is very family oriented. All I can think of is winter wonderland, but that would have to be all white and i'm big into colourful christmas lights. I appreciate any feedback

  1. You could do something with santa sitting in a sleigh with reindeer. Both sleigh and reindeer can be made of cardboard.Don't forget all the presents.

  2. Santa's work shop.- Have all the kids dress as elves and have tables set up with wooden toys on them and have the kids pretend they are working on the toys.  You could have a big Christmas tree with lights on it and wrapped presents underneath.

Twas the night before Christmas- I would also hang stockings from the fireplace and place the battery operated candles inside the box to make it look like a real fireplace.  You could also have one of the kids dressed as a mouse and have them pretend like they are sleeping or waving to the crowd.(Not  a creature was stirring not even a mouse)

Playing in the snow-You could have on part of the float look like a pond and have the kids and adults pretend like they are ice skating.  You can put secure a bench by the pond for people to sit on.  Beside the pond you can have kids building a snowman or having a snowball fight.  For color I would put poinsettias around the bottom of the float and light around the pond.  You could also have a tree with lights on it.

  3. If you can run your float off a generator, I would get a Lights and Sounds of Christmas.  It has  6 circuit controls that will flash and dazzle to the music it is supplied with.

Simply make sure the lights will work if it runs off a generator.

They typically run about $100, not including lights and generator.

However, your company should have a generator.

Being that it is a construction company, I would put the smallest backhoe on there and build a wood frame tree.  You can even build you a tree out of lights (subject to the clearance of the parade route).  I would wrap the backhoe (or other construction equipment that you guys use) in bows.

Combined with the Lights and Sounds, it would make for an award winning float.

  4. Just what Crossy said, Santa sitting in a sleigh with plastic reindeer ahead, and add in tons of presents! A few artificial Christmas trees would be great! You could spray paint white on them or buy that fake snow! Use LOTS of red and silver ( or any color for that matter ) decorations on the trees, hang candy canes on it too! Speaking of candy canes, why not go to a store like walmart once their Christmas stuff is out and get really big candy cane decorations ( only two ) and put them parallel going vertical! then put rocks in a pathway going through and past the candy canes! You could build Santas house out of wood and paint it brown, add lots of fake snow on it!! For the windows use plastic rap put a light inside the house and an elf looking out the window!! Mrs.Claus waving to Santa would be a good idea too! Don't forget a big Merry Christmas banner about the house/workshop!

I hope it turns out fantastic and that you like my ideas!

EDIT: That is true, it would take away from Santa at the end, so why not just elves!! playing in the snow, it can still be a Winter Wonderland theme =)!!!
