Need DC Directions!!! Mapquest is no help...?

Question

I am going from the Verizon Center to the Omni Shoreham hotel, then from the hotel to the National Mall. I dont know the address of the National Mall, and I am taking the Metro. What is the route with the least transfers that I can take to move between these trains. How many lines are there, I dont want to get lost.

You will find using the Metro easy. There will be maps at all the stations and inside of all of the cars.

Don't hesitate to ask for directions as residents are used to helping lost visitors.

Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Both the Verizon Center and Omni Shoreham are both located on the RED Line; the CHINATOWN/GALLERY PLACE station is below the Verizon Center, go to the first level and catch a RED Line train towards Shady Grove/Grovesnor and get off at the WOODLEY PARK-ZOO station for the Omni Shoreham (2500 Calvert Street NW). On your return trip downtown, take the Red Line towards METRO CENTER, exit, go down one level and transfer to either an ORANGE Line or BLUE Line train in the direction of the SMITHSONIAN station (exit on the National Mall).
