  1. If you join your schools cross country or track team than you will need a couple pairs of athletic shorts and a couple cheap shirts, since you will be running every day. you also need a good pair of running shoes. go to your local shoe store and they will fit you, If you dont have a shoe store around you then you can just go to eastbay.com or the mall. Also when you start running you will need to drink alot of water. Usually about four 20 oz. gatorade bottles will get you hydrated. Just drink them slowly throughout the day and you will be fine. Everything else you will need to know will be taken care by your coach of the track or cross country when you start. Also try to cut back on junk food. When you eat think of foods with value to them, meats vegtales, carbs, no candy that wont give any real energy for running.

  2. You should join Cross Country, in 9th grade, by the time you reach 11th or 12th grade, you will probably be top Varsity, you have a really fast time for being so young. Starting by running a mile everyday and then slowly build up by half a mile week after week, and after a month or so, try running a mile again and see what you hit, It'll probably be high 5's or low 6's, you should also join track, they have distance events, such as the mile, also don't forget to stretch, so that your muscles won't be tight, sprint workouts help as well, they help with your kick at the end of your race. Also do ab workouts, so they tighten up abs, and prevent side aches and such. Good Luck!

  3. Running is a low equipment sport.

Beginners need only running shorts, t-shirt, good shoes.

Later you will want to invest in a good technical t-shirt/singlet but you don't need that to start.

You do need good shoes.  They don't have to be the most expensive but they should be running shoes - not basketball, cross trainers, etc.

If you can go to a store that specializes in running (the clerks are almost always runners).  They will look at your gait and make sure you get in the right kind of shoe.

Diet:  nothing more that a good healthy diet.  Go light on fats, sugars.

As you train you will need good lean protein and dense carbs.  Make sure you are getting fruit and greens in your diet.

Start running easy.  Increase a little each week.  During your runs try little surges of speed (at first 10 seconds will do).

Eventually work up to running thirty minutes a day.  Within that thirty minutes have times when you run hard.

As you build a base you will want to devote at least one day to speed work, but most of all you want to run.

It sounds like you are pretty fast good luck with your training.

  4. BMI is good. At least you should run 1 mile under 6 mins. Better if you can run under 5:30 at your age. No special cloths needed for long distance running. But don't wear too much tight cloths. Try to run last 400m under 1:05. In your age you don't have to get special foods. I run mile under 4 mins without having any special things, at least not wearing shoes for the keep my fitness.
