I'm part of a society that helps raise money for blood cancers and need to raise about $8,000. I was wondering if any one had some unique, easy ideas. Already thought of the car wash, bake sale, bingo and dinner, basketball tournament, dog wash, babysit, housekeeping, penny wars and many other ideas that everyone thinks of right away. I need something easy and unique that would bring in a large profit quickly. Any ideas? Anything and all is welcome. Thank you.

  1. A matching grant is a particularly effective way to fundraise.  If you can find one generous person or company to promise to match each dollar you raise up to a certain amount, then other people are more motivated to give (they are getting more bang for their buck).  The company gets free advertising and a tax write-off for their donation, so it's a win-win all around.

Don't be afraid to ask - all they can say is no.  =)

  2. Our community does a Variety Show that brings in a lot of money and you can do a Charitable ball. Have a local caterer and venue donate or help with cost and have tickets to cover cost you have plus make money. Most proms are $50 a person to a Ball you could charge the same. At the ball have dinner and dancing and a silent auction. That would be a great way to show off your causes as well! Good luck!

  3. How about a 50/50 draw.

  4. I can help you set up a web based fund raiser site with offers from Netflix, Vista Print (business cards, post cards, etc), As Seen On TV, and several others. It is FREE for you to set up and you, and for each offer someone trys out (for instance, they use the Netfilx offer), you earn from $3 to as much as $20. All you need to do is take 15 minutes to set up the info on your site, and use the email and flyer tools to let everyone know what you are trying to accomplish. You might even get the local newspapers to run a story with the web address, and folks will jump right in! The link to the sign up page is below - email me if you have any questions! Good luck!

  5. Local businesses donate items for an auction.  hold a sock hop

  6. Ask a local dealership to donate a car and hold a raffle.  Check your local state rules and regulations about holding a raffle, as there are some limitations on the money you can raise.  You could also get small items donated for the same cause so that it's not an all or nothing type of raffle.

Do you know anyone personally who has a blood cancers, maybe they can be a spokes person for your fund raiser--people generally react generously when they can put a face to an affliction, it makes it more personal.

What is the urgency to raise the $8,000 quickly?  And, make sure your organization is a legal 501(c)3 nonprofit entity so people can get receipts for tax purposes.

    Good luck
